The Simon K. Y. Lee Global Lounge & Resource Centre is once again recognizing International Development Week (Feb 5-11) by hosting a series of discussions and workshops that critically engages with the theories and practices of international development. They hope to foster dialogue and interest around the themes they’ve chosen this year, so join them at the Global Lounge (2205 Lower Mall, Building 1) for events taking place throughout the week!So You Want To Save Africa? Mon, Feb 6: 5 – 7 PM 

The So You Want To Save Africa? workshop challenges you to critically reflect on your assumptions about Africa with relation to advocacy and development–about what ‘solutions’ are being suggested, by whom, and to what end. Hosted by the G7 Africa-focused groups (AAICAAIRSASTANDWUSCACAC)!

What IS International Development? Tues, Feb 7: 5 – 7 PM 

Join Kristi Kenyon, Katherine Muldoon and Dr. Chris Erickson for a critical analysis of the ethics and merits of international development, as they present their opinions and differing perspectives on this highly contested concept.

Right To Develop = Right To Pollute? Wed, Feb 8: 5 – 7 PM 

Join Dr. Suzanne Simard, Dr. Benjamin Richardson and Dr. Kathryn Harrison as they discuss their opinions on the controversial question of whether it is fair for developed countries to impose strict environmental regulations on developing countries.
